Roz Sweetman

Integrative Psychotherapist & EMDR Practitioner (Children, Adolescents & Young Adults)

I work with children, adolescents and young adults who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, stuck in repeating patterns or are living with the ongoing impact of trauma and anxiety. I also work with individuals who experience the world through a neurodivergent lens.

Therapy with me is active, collaborative and focused on deep and lasting change.

I gently but directly challenge unhelpful thinking and behaviours.

I help clients understand how their nervous system and past experiences shape their reactions.

Difficult emotions are explored at a pace that feels safe, structured and contained.

From there, we work towards responding differently, with greater awareness and choice.

My work is trauma-informed and grounded in an understanding of how the nervous system shapes emotional and behavioural responses. I integrate play and creativity, particularly when working with younger clients. I provide practical tools alongside insight, so clients can feel more regulated, confident and in control.

For children and adolescents, therapy is most effective when parents are meaningfully involved. I work closely with caregivers to help them understand what’s happening beneath behaviours and how to support change at home. The young person’s privacy and trust remain central to the work.

I am a part-time lecturer in psychotherapy. I also deliver corporate talks and design bespoke training workshops that deepen organisations and teams understanding of trauma, nervous system regulation and emotional wellbeing.

Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist, I gained extensive experience supporting diverse populations. This included older adults experiencing dementia, stroke recovery and end-of-life care; adolescents in residential care; and children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. I have also worked in disadvantaged primary and secondary schools.

This breadth of experience shapes how I understand trauma, systemic disadvantage and the complexity of people’s lives. It informs the depth of care I bring to my clinical work.
