Dr. Sara McNally
Sara is a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. She holds a Masters in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from IICP and a Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School. With a long-held interest in the human mind and body interplay, Sara holds a degree in Natural Science (Genetics) from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from the UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science. As a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Sara is dedicated to upholding the greatest ethical standards while offering exceptional care to clients in distress.
Sara’s approach is founded humanistic, existential and person-centred psychotherapy. She works with various issues including but not confined to anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, stress, disability identity, relationship challenges, and trauma. In order to accommodate each client’s distinct ways of thinking, feeling, and relating, she employs an open and adaptable approach in her work. With an interest in contemplative practices, Sara allows a flow of Buddhism-based philosophy and mindfulness exercises to aid the “work of therapy” where appropriate.
Sara does have a specific interest in anticipatory grief, preparing for the end-of-life and psychotherapy for clients facing terminal illness diagnosis. Sara is a subject matter expert on Cancer pathogenesis and how psychotherapy can be applied to alleviate psychological distress in this patient group.
Sara brings compassion, warmth and non-judgement to the therapeutic space.
